Settings

Last modified on

The settings menu in Sesame lets you customise your app experience, manage offline data storage, set security preferences, and control account-wide language defaults.

App version and updates

To check your current software version or manually scan for updates:

  • Version information: Displays the installed build number and compilation timestamp.

  • Check for updates: Select Check for updates to verify that you are running the latest version of Sesame.

Language preferences

Sesame supports multi-language display across devices.

  • Device language: Choose your preferred display language for the app on your current device (supports English US/UK, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean).

  • Default language: Select Set as default to save your selected language preference to your account. This applies the setting automatically whenever you sign in on another device.

Offline mode and media downloads

Sesame works offline automatically by caching your collection data locally so it loads instantly and stays accessible without an internet connection.

  • Download collection photos: Tap Download to store high-resolution images of your collection directly on your device for offline viewing.

  • Recommendation: It is recommended to download photos while connected to Wi-Fi to save mobile data.

Security and passkey protection

You can protect your local collection data from unauthorised access:

  • Require Face ID / Touch ID to open: Toggle this switch to On to lock cached collection data behind your device's biometric authentication or passkey.

  • Requirements: You must have a passkey set up on your device first. Changes will take effect the next time you launch the app.

Onboarding setup

If you want to review the initial configuration guide or walkthrough:

  • Restart onboarding: Select Restart under the onboarding section to repeat the guided setup steps.

About and licences

  • About & licences: Select View to inspect app release details and third-party open-data software licences.

Danger Zone: Logging out and clearing data

If you need to sign out or free up local device storage:

  • Log out and clear all data on this device: Select Log out & clear to log out and permanently remove all cached collection data, downloaded photos, and offline files stored on the current device.

Important note: Clearing device data only removes locally cached files. All master records, images, and artwork data stored on the server remain completely safe and untouched.
