Passkey

Last modified on

Passkeys provide a faster, safer, and passwordless way to log in to Sesame. By replacing traditional passwords with biometrics (like Face ID or Touch ID) or security keys, passkeys protect your account against phishing attempts and unauthorised access.

What is a passkey?

A passkey is a digital credential linked directly to your personal device (such as your iPhone, Android phone, Mac, or Windows PC). When signing in with a passkey, you authenticate using your device's native unlock method—such as fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, or screen lock PINs—without ever typing a password.

Setting up a passkey

You can add and manage passkeys from your profile settings:

  1. Navigate to the Profile section.

  2. Tap + Add Passkey.

  3. Follow your browser or device prompts to confirm your identity (e.g., scan your face or fingerprint) and register the current device.

Once registered, your passkey will be active immediately for future sign-ins.

Managing registered passkeys

The Passkeys section lists all devices currently authorised to access your Sesame account, including the date each key was added and when it was last used:

  • Rename: Tap Rename next to any passkey to give it a custom name (e.g., Personal iPhone, Company MacBook) so you can easily identify your trusted devices.

  • Delete: Tap Delete in red next to any passkey to revoke access from that device immediately. If you lose a phone or laptop, removing its passkey ensures your account remains secure.
