Monitor humidity levels

Try to maintain a stable environment (not everyone has a hygrometer at home we know). Fluctuating humidity can cause materials to expand and contract, leading to damage. Kitchens and bathrooms often see high humidity fluctuations, so beware in those spaces specifically.

Avoid direct strong airflow

Allowing art to breathe is critical to avoid mould, but keep artworks away from heating vents and powerful air conditioners. Constant strong airflow can lead to drying and deterioration.

Use archival materials

Ensure your framers work with acid-free mats and we recommend UV-protective glass to prevent fading and acid damage.

Rotate displays

Periodically rotate the artworks you have on display to minimize exposure to light and environmental stress. Direct sunlight causes fading and heat damage.

Handle with gloves

Use cotton or nitrile gloves when handling artworks to prevent oils and dirt from your skin from transferring to the art.
